YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL MISSION STATEMENT
The Youth Advisory Council of the Erase-the-Hate Campaign provides advice and direction to the EtH Steering Committee on ideas, strategies and programs designed to promote greater civility, kindness and respect among youth. The Council will be comprised of youth from backgrounds representing the broad spectrum of diversity in our community.
Definition of the EtH Youth Council
The Erase the Hate Youth Council is intended to be a youth-led and youth-defined group comprised of youth from 11 – 18 years of age. The Erase the Hate Steering Committee will provide leadership and support to the group, including a mentor-intern who will serve as a liaison between the EtH Youth Council and the EtH Steering Committee.
The EtH Youth Council will
• Meet several times a year, starting with an initial August gathering.
• Create a program of its own choosing to foster the mission statement above.
• Be encouraged to incorporate creative use of media and technology in the formation of the program.
• Provide input and leadership for a spring event, such as, but not limited to, the youth contest awards [as in 2005 – 2010] and/or the Youth Festival [as in 2011].
